WHAT ARE LAB CREATED DIAMONDS?

1.  Are they fake?

Lab diamonds aren’t fake—they’re authentic diamonds, crafted through chemical synthesis to match mined diamonds perfectly.

2. What's the different?

  • Where they come from: Lab diamonds grow in above-ground facilities, while mined diamonds are dug from underground.

  • How long they take: Thanks to scientific advancement, lab diamonds take just months to form—no need for the millions of years natural diamonds require.

  • What they cost: Their lab-grown process makes them cost-efficient: HauteCarat lab diamonds are 20–40% more affordable than mined diamonds.

  • Their environmental footprint: No dangerous mining means lab diamonds are conflict-free and gentle on the Earth. Plus, their controlled growth environment leads to fewer imperfections than mined stones

3. The similarities? They’re identical in core aspects:

  • Sparkle: You can’t tell the difference between their optical brilliance.

  • Structure: Their physical shape and form are the same.

  • Composition: Both are pure carbon.

  • Formation process: Lab diamonds develop under the exact same heat and pressure as natural diamonds—we just replicate those conditions in a lab to shorten the million-year timeline.

 Important distinction: Synthetic (lab) diamonds vs. simulated diamonds. Lab diamonds are real;

simulated options (like cubic zirconia, clear quartz, or moissanite) are imitations. HauteCarat never uses fakes—only genuine lab diamonds.

Reasons To Love Lab Diamond

Diamond

What’s the resale value of a
lab diamond?

Diamonds—whether lab-grown or mined—don’t appreciate in value. A $6,000 mined diamond resells for 40-50% less later, and lab diamonds follow the same trend.

Diamond Jewerly Set

Why are lab-grown diamonds more fab than mined diamonds?

  • No sketchy practices: Zero child labor, zero corruption. Shine bright knowing your diamond is ethically made.

  • Earth-friendly: We grow diamonds in labs, not by digging huge, destructive mines. The planet stays untouched—win-win.

  • More bang for your buck: Science turns nature’s million-year diamond process into months. That means you can afford a bigger, brighter diamond without breaking the bank.

Are lab diamonds the
real deal?

Absolutely. Lab diamonds over 0.50 carats are certified by GIA or IGI, graded on the same 4 Cs as mined diamonds. Each has unique characteristics—no two are alike.

Will my lab-grown diamond sparkle/bling like a mined diamond?

Totally! Sparkle comes down to cut and clarity—two things we don’t compromise on. We only sell top-tier cut grades, and if you want maximum bling, go for VS2 clarity or higher. You won’t tell the difference between our lab diamonds and mined ones.

Partnership

Can I insure a lab diamond?

Absolutely! All you need is a professional appraisal (from a gemologist) and a GIA/IGI certificate for your diamond. Bonus: We’ll hook you up with a free GIA appraisal—no extra cost.

Diamonds

Are lab-grown diamonds flawless?

Nope—just like mined diamonds, each lab diamond is unique. They can have tiny internal or surface inclusions, similar to high-quality natural diamonds. And rest easy—they’re graded by the same independent gem labs that certify mined diamonds, using the same strict rules.

Raw crystal on rock

Do lab-created diamonds get cloudy?

Not a chance. Lab diamonds have the same physical and chemical makeup as mined diamonds, so they’re just as durable. They won’t cloud up over time—promise.

Color Bombs

Will a lab diamond change color over time?

Myth busted: Lab diamonds don’t fade, cloud, or change color. At HauteCarat, we stand by that with a lifetime warranty. Our lab diamonds keep their brilliance forever—no exceptions.

Cracked Earth

Do lab-grown diamonds easily get damaged?

No. They’re 100% carbon, making them the hardest material on Earth. The only way to damage one is the same as a mined diamond—scraping it against another diamond or hitting it with extreme force (super rare!).

Can a gemologist tell the difference between lab-grown and mined diamonds?

Nope. Their properties are identical, so a trained gemologist will only confirm it’s a real diamond. You’d need special equipment or a certificate to tell them apart—no casual inspection will work.
